ABOUT

CAROLYN W. G. BARNETT is an influencer from Southwest Detroit known as the Downriver Community. She is an alumna of Southwestern High School and Davenport University where her educational focus was on business. Carolyn has a Bachelor of Science in Office Administration, Master’s Degrees in both Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management as well as Doctorial studies in Leadership and Organizational Change. Funded by the Gamaliel Foundation, while under the leadership of the late Dr. Bishop Nemiah Smith, Carolyn received her training in church-based organizing by the Jeremiah Project.

  • Organizer and Founder of a five block, block club named after the late Horace L. Sheffield, Jr. a giant in the organized labor movement. The block club is located, on Annabelle St between Visger Rd. and Outer Drive (VTOD) in southwest Detroit.

  • Founder of Southpointe Development Corporation which focused on in-filled housing.

  • CEO of Nemiah’s Vision, Executive Coaching for small business start ups and leadership development training for non-profit organizations.

  • Retired from the City of Detroit Water Department

 

KINGDOM FOCUS

  • Ordained by the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith International

  • Developed and implemented  a ministry while under the leadership of pastor, Bishop Lambert W. Gates, Sr., known as the Senior Executive Ministry Assistant Team (SEMAT). In addition, her in-home ministry called Spending Time With The Master includes The “Infinity” Project where teaching crochet techniques using biblical principles are emphasized.

  • Co-founder and organizer of The Commons Prayer Group in Taylor, Michigan.

CURRENTLY

Carolyn retired from the City of Detroit in 2012. She is working on writing her book, serving in a leadership capacity at her place of worship, as she continues to develop her ministry. You may find some of her current writings on her blog Infinity-2.
